Setting Intentions

I have a confession to make.  I love Mondays!  You may be like me but the majority of the population can’t stand this day.  As the picture below says: “Mondays aren’t so bad it’s your job that sucks!” and I couldn’t agree more.  Week after week, people complain about another week at work and can’t wait until the weekend.  I do love weekends but I look forward to Monday almost just as much.

For me, Monday represents the start of a fresh, new week.  Obviously. But digging deeper, it represents hope and starting with a brand new slate.  I feel like the way you start a week can really affect how the rest of the days will follow.  You can get the momentum going by setting intentions for the week ahead and what better day to start than Monday!

Whatever big goal you may have, break it down and see what’s the smallest action you can take that not only will move you in the direction of your goal but also start you off on a positive note and feeling accomplished.

Whether you want to lose weight, stop smoking, exercise more, meditate, read, spend time with your loved ones or anything else you’ve been putting off or not able to do as much as you want.

What one action can you make first thing Monday morning that will set you up for success?

I invite you to participate in a Monday Challenge.  Full details will be posted on Friday so you can prepare and actually look forward to Monday as well.

Below are some pictures I took with my phone while going for a jog this Monday morning.  Getting up from warm sheets and having a hot cup of coffee waiting was very enticing to stay but I didn’t want to keep making excuses and then have regrets or beating myself up for it.

As a result, not only did I have a great jog, it allowed me to clear my head, get focused and set intentions for the week ahead.  It also set off the momentum to come home and cook a healthy breakfast, write this blog post and then tackle a few things that have been put on the back burner.

One positive action leads to another.

This is Lake Daumesnil just right outside of Paris which is usually packed with couples and families on the weekend but on a crisp Monday morning, it was so peaceful and serene with just a handful of other joggers running around.

And many, many birds which were certainly not shy and didn’t mind me snapping away.

Right next to the lake is a great forest which is my next destination and hopefully a future location for a photo shoot.  Jogging, location scouting, I can certainly combine the two and be even more productive.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?  Why not spend a few minutes in the kitchen and put some thought and love into what you put into your body.  Of cause, not always feasible but when opportunity is available, that’s one of my favorite ways to start the day.

Fast, easy and healthy.  Organic spinach, avocado, eggs and voila! Breakfast of champions! Except maybe the baguette but hey, I am in Paris 🙂

If you have some healthy breakfast recipes, would love to hear them!

Bon Appetit!

Hope everyone has a productive and happy week and joins me next Monday for the Monday Challenge!
